About the Role
The Company is seeking a Deputy Chief Probation Officer (DCPO) to join its dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities of a division within the probation department. This includes implementing policies, acting on behalf of the Chief Probation Officer, and leading countywide and multidisciplinary workgroups. The DCPO will also be involved in succession planning, personnel management, budget preparation, and promoting collaboration and partnership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the criminal justice system, experience in various probation functions, and a proven track record in managing and developing a diverse team. They should be adept at project management, policy development, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates for the DCPO position at the company should have a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 7 years' of probation or parole experience, with a focus on management. The role requires a deep understanding of evidence-based practices, trauma-informed care, and multi-disciplinary collaborative models. Experience in at least two of the three areas: adult services, juvenile services, and juvenile justice facilities, is preferred. The ideal candidate will be innovative, action-oriented, and willing to take calculated risks. They must also be committed to the department's mission of public safety and community rehabilitation. The position is open due to the retirement of the incumbent, and the selected candidate must be willing to relocate to the tri-counties area.
